This study explores a non-pharmacological approach to pain and anxiety management using virtual/augmented reality–guided mindfulness. A 22-year-old hospitalized patient with mixed connective tissue disease underwent mindfulness sessions using the Apple Vision Pro headset over 48 hours. Pain and anxiety levels were measured before and after the intervention.

The patient participated in six sessions (~60 minutes each). Results showed significant reductions in pain (from 4.67/10 to 1.83/10) and anxiety (from 6.5/10 to 2.83/10). The patient reported a positive experience, though minor discomfort and eye strain occurred. The study suggests that Apple Vision Pro–based mindfulness may be a promising non-pharmacological treatment, but larger controlled studies are needed.
